SINOPSIS
Hamdan es un antiguo líder palestino quien permaneció 15 años encerrado en las viejas prisiones israelíes. En 1973, mientras vive en Siria, recibe la misión de pasar explosivos a través de la frontera y entrenar a una persona de su confianza. El elegido es Omar, un vecino de su pueblo. Luego de dos meses; Omar se adelanta, sin respetar el objetivo original de la misión, y hace detonar una bomba en un autobús. La investigación llega hasta Hamdan ─quien es subsecuentemente encarcelado. La película reconstruye la historia a través de sus memorias, los preparativos de la misión y los años de cárcel.

Hamdam is an old Palestinian leader who remained behind Israeli bars for 15 years. In 1973, while he in Syria, he is commissioned to smuggle explosives through the border and to train a person whom he trusts. He chooses Omar, a town neighbour. After two months; Omar proceeds, disregarding the initial mission target, and blows up a bus with a bomb. The investigation leads to Hamdam who is subsequently thrown in jail. The film reconstructs the story through his tales, the preparations for the mission and the years he spent in jail.

BIOGRAFÍA
Martín Solá nació en Argentina y estudió cine documental en la ciudad de Barcelona y dirección de cine en el Cievyc en Buenos Aires. Trabajó como camarógrafo en productoras de España y Argentina. Desde 2008, es profesor en diferentes escuelas de cine de Barcelona, Madrid y Buenos Aires. Como realizador, su primer cortometraje Àpat a casa de familia fue seleccionado para la Bienal Jeune Creació europea 2006-2007. Realizó tres largometrajes documentales: Caja cerrada en 2008, Mensajero en 2011 y Hamdan el año pasado.

Martín Solá was born in Argentina and studied documentary filmmaking in Barcelona and Filmmaking at the Cievyc in Buenos Aires. He worked as a cameraman for Spanish and Argentinean production companies. He has been a professor at different film schools in Barcelona, Madrid and Buenos Aires since 2008. As a filmmaker, his first short feature Àpat a casa de familia was selected for the European Jeune Creació 2006-2007 Biennial. He has made three feature films: Caja cerrada, 2008; Mensajero, 2011 and Hamdan last year.

SINOPSIS
Esta es la historia de Hasin Saad, un joven iraquí de 15 años asentado junto con su familia en la ciudad de San Antonio ─un puerto localizado en la V región de Chile. Hasin descubre en el atletismo un espacio para su integración social y superación personal. A través del propio relato de nuestro protagonista, conocemos a los otros integrantes de esta familia árabe; sus testimonios de la guerra; sus padeceres; alegrías y, principalmente, el coraje para afrontar la venida a un nuevo y extraño país. Es un relato esperanzador que resulta motivante para quienes se reinventan y renacen como el ave fénix.

This is the story of Hasin Saad, a Young Iraqi kid of 15 years of age who has settled along with his family in the city of San Antonio ─a port located in the V region of Chile. Hasin discovers in track a means to his social inclusion and self-improvement. Through his own retelling, we get to know the rest of the members of this Arab family and their war testimonies, their sufferings, their joys and, mainly, the courage which with they face the coming to a new and foreign land. It is an inspiring tale that is motivating for those who reinvent themselves and are reborn from their ashes like the phoenix.

BIOGRAFÍA
Andrés es un director y productor ejecutivo chileno. Estudió comunicación audiovisual en el Instituto de Arte y Comunicación en Chile y se diplomó en Producción Ejecutiva en la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión en 2011 en Cuba. Además, tiene estudios universitarios de Filosofía. En 2006, funda la Productora Independiente Dinamo Audiovisual. Ha dirigido y producido 10 Documentales hasta la fecha y ha recibido premios junto a la productora Dinamo Audiovisual, entre los que cabe destacar el de Mejor Documental en el Festival de Cine Emergente de Chile por Hasin, el Niño Iraquí.

Andrés is a Director and executive producer from Chile. He majored in audiovisual communication at the Instituto de Arte y Comunicación in Chile and in Executive Management at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in Cuba in 2011. In addition, he took some philosophy courses at University. In 2006 he founded the independent production company Dinamo Audiovisual. So far, he has directed and produced ten documentaries and has been awarded through his work at Dinamo Audiovisual; being among those awards the Best Documentary at the Festival de Cine Emergente in Chile for Hasin, the Iraqi Kid.

SINOPSIS

Tras la caída de Saddam Hussein, miles de palestinos residentes en Irak se han convertido en refugiados en tierra de nadie. La lejana república de Chile ha dado la bienvenida a un grupo de ellos en La Calera, una pequeña ciudad que cientos de palestinos llegados hace un siglo y sus descendientes han hecho propia.
El viaje continúa, tal como hace cien años… Basem, un panadero que acaba de llegar a la ciudad, comienza una lucha por recuperar su oficio y montar su negocio propio. Tiene fe en que sus esfuerzos y el apoyo de la comunidad de descendientes de palestinos lo ayudarán a cumplir su sueño: rescatar a sus padres ancianos de la zona de guerra para vivir juntos otra vez.

After Saddam Hussein’s fall, thousand of Palestinian residents in Iraq have become refugees in no-man’s land. The distant Republic of Chile has welcomed one of those groups in La Calera, a small town which hundreds of Palestinians who arrived a century ago have made their own.
And so the journey continues; a hundred years on…
Basem, a newly-arrived baker, begins a struggle to recuperate his trade and put up his own business. He has faith that his efforts will bear fruits and that the support of the community of Palestinian descendents will help him make his dream of rescuing his elderly parents from the warzone to live together again come true.

Ana María Hurtado es periodista de la Universidad de Chile. Desde 2002 produce y realiza documentales independientes. En 2007, comenzó el rodaje de su ópera prima Palestina al Sur que finalizó a fines de 2011. Ana María es socia y fundadora de la productora Antipoder, dedicada a producir y realizar proyectos audiovisuales de autor, educativos e institucionales. La Encomienda del Abuelo, su nuevodocumental en rodaje, es la historia del último descendiente de los príncipes incas.

Ana María Hurtado is a journalist majored at the University of Chile. She has been producing and making independent documentaries since 2012. In 2007 she started filming what would become her directorial debut Palestina al Sur, which she finished by the end of 2011. Ana María is an associate and founding member of the production company Antipoder, dedicated to producing and materializing independent audiovisual projects of educational or institutional value. La Encomienda del Abuelo, her new documentary in the works, is the story of the last descendent of Inca princes.
