Christine, una muchacha rusa que vive en Gaza, maneja un salón de belleza adyacente al centro de operaciones de una pandilla callejera. Christine, a Russian woman living in Gaza, manages a hair salon located next door to a gang headquarters. In the courtyard between the two, maverick gangster Ahmed brazenly displays the lion he nabbed from the Gaza zoo.When the Hamas-led government police stage an operation to "liberate" the lion, the situation escalates into a stand-off, and Christine is trapped inside the salon with her ten-year-old daughter, Natalie, assistant Wedad, and ten customers, as bullets start flying outside. The film is an incisive depiction of people living in a permanent state of siege and must carry on with their lives while violence rages right outside their front doors.Impressively directed by twin brothers Tarzan and Arab Nasser, Dégradé is an ode to the women of Gaza: their resilience, strength, and especially, their humour.

Arab and Tarzan Nasser were born in Gaza. They both graduated with a B.F.A. in painting from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza before transitioning to filmmaking with the shorts Colourful Journey, Condom Lead, Apartment 10/14, and With Premeditation. Dégradé is their feature debut.
