En un viaje a Siria, el director Otavio Cury encuentra un libro escrito por su bisabuelo, Constantino Daud al-Khoury. La traducci贸n al portugu茅s es el primer paso en un viaje personal a trav茅s del pasado. Despu茅s de b煤squedas y descubrimientos, el director determina que la obra habla de la vida del poeta y uno de los pioneros del cine 谩rabe, una faceta de la historia de su bisabuelo que 茅l no lo sab铆a. Los refl ejos son la historia perdida y los desaf铆os de hoy en d铆a, ya que todo se inicia el 11 de septiembre de 2001.
During a family trip to Syria, the land of his ancestors, Otavio Cury fi nds an unknown book containing the complete literary works of his great-grandfather. Translating the book into Portuguese was the fi rst step of a personal journey into the history of Daud Constantino Al-Khoury. After search and discovery, the director determines that the work talks about the life of the poet and one of the pioneers of the Arab cinema, a side of his great grandfather鈥檚 history he ignored. The refl ection are the lost story and current challenges, for it all began on September 11, 2001
OTAVIO CURY naci贸 en San Pablo en 1971. Se gradu贸 de Ingeniero agr贸nomo en la Universidad de San Pablo en 1994. Su primer documental como director, Cosm贸polis (2005), se emiti贸 en programas televisivos brasileros, fue seleccionado en el festival de cine de Brasil y en el 2008 form贸 parte de la exhibici贸n del Tate Modern. Entre 2003 y 2006, Otavio form贸 parte de Mutante Filmes y en 2008 fund贸 Outros Filmes.
OTAVIO CURY was born in S茫o Paulo in 1971. He graduated in Agronomic Engineering at University of S茫o Paulo in 1994. His first documentary as a director, Cosm贸polis (2005), was shown by Brazilian TV channels Cultura, Futura and GNT, selected to Brazil's main film festivals and was part of Tate Modern's exhibit Global Cities in 2008. Otavio was a partner at Mutante Filmes from 2003 to 2006. In 2008 he started Outros Filmes.
